Sporting Clube show no mercy

Shennon scores six goals while Anthony nets five times; Elijan, Benjamin and Alger score one goal each for The Flaming Oranje; At other venues, FC Goa, Quitula SC, Candolim SC, Arpora Sporting Club and AA de Majorda recorded victories

PANJIM: The young Flaming Oranje gave a perfect birthday gift to their club president, Peter Vaz as they rolled over Ponda Footballers 14-0 to register their third successive win in the GFA U-14 League match, at Don Bosco ground, here, on Saturday.
It was raining goals as Sporting Clube lads came up with a dazzling performance to continue where they left of last week.  
Right from the start, Sporting Clube maintained ball possession and surged ahead in the 18th minute when Shanon Viegas converted with a deft placement
Subsequently, Shanon set up Elijan Fernandes who got on the score sheet before scoring one more on his own, quickly giving Sporting Clube a comfortable 3-0 lead in the span of eight  minutes.
Anthony Fernandes continued his fine form to net two more goals for the Panjim outfit before the first half taking the score to 5-0 before switching ends.  
Post resumption, Ponda Footballers displayed fighting spirit but could not get the better of their strong opponents.
Anthony added three more goals to pocket five goals in total while Shenon netted four goals to make his personal score six for the evening. Sporting were sitting comfortable with the healthy lead and good possession to control the game completely. Towards the closing stages Benjamin Lobo and Alger Da Costa netted one goal each for Sporting Clube.
At St Cruz ground, FC Goa continued their undefeated streak with a 3-0 victory over Cabesa SCC. They now have 15 points from five matches.
Reuben Castelino put FC Goa ahead in the eighth minute after picking up a pass from Leewan Castanha and hammered a power-packed left volley.
In the second half, Valentine Carvalho scored a brace. FC Goa next take on Dempo SC on November 24, at University ground, Taleigao, at 3 p.m. A win will ensure them a place in the play-off’s with two matches in hand.
Quitula Sports Club supported by GFDC hammered Dunes SC 7-0 at Morjim ground. They opened the scoring in the fifth minute through Yash Parwar, who doubled the advantage in the 18th minute.
Manohar Naik and Adil Aga scored a goal each to make it 4-0 at the break. In the second half, Harsh Patre made it 5-0 in the 42nd minute. Narendra Naik and Aman Bore scored a goal each to make it 7-0.
Candolim Sports Club managed to register a solitary goal win over St Anthony Sports Club, Marna, at St. Anthony church ground, Siolim.
The all important goal for the winners was scored by Afton D’Souza who scored with a neat placement.
In the next match at Siolim ground, Arpora Sporting Club hammered Football Club of Tuem 8-0.
Eric D’Souza opened the account for Arpora, with Shivas Khan, Rohit Rai, Mamat Gaude (3) and Shivaz Khan (2) adding their names to the scorers list.
AA de Majorda defeated Cortalim Gymkhana 1-0 at Cansaulim ground. 
In the fourth minute, AA de Majorda scored through Myron Braganza, who tapped in a rebound of Sanford Colaco.
