Sporting Clube de Goa defeated Goa Velha SC 2-1 in the Taca Goa U-20 league at Duler Stadium, here on Tuesday. The score was 1-1 at the lemon break.
Sporting built up their moves with quick passes through the midfield. They were the fitter team.
Goa Velha started brightly on the wings but lost momentum in the second half as they showed lack of fitness
The turning point in the game happened in the 78th when Goa Velha’s Pravin Jadav was sent off while being substituted and this led to Sporting’s winning goal. Pravin took long to leave the field while being substituted.He was shown the yellow. He was then shown the red card for dissent. This brought Goa Velha down to ten men as they could not replace Jadav.
Goa Velha took the lead in the 18th minute through Pedro Gonsalves, turning on the edge of the 18-yard box and firing past Sporting custodian Mackroy Peixoto.
Five minutes later, Roystan Carneiro missed an open goal for Sporting after Goa Velha keeper Soma Korgaonkar spilled the ball into his path.
Pritam Ningthougam equalized for Sporting in the 40th minute after heading in a free kick which was taken by Flody D’Souza.
In the second half Milton Gomes chipped the ball onto the crossbar after receiving a pass from Valzinho Fernandes.
Sporting had a free kick curled in from the right in the 81st minute. After some quick passing from Valzinho and Flody, the ball fell to Milton, who dispatched the ball from close range earning Sporting’s winner.
