Sporting too good for Guardian Angel

MAPUSA: Sporting Clube de Goa proved to be too good as they registered a convincing 3-0 win over Guardian Angel SC in the CAM Goa Professional League played at Duler stadium here on Sunday.

After the match Sporting has 9 points from 5 matches while Guardian Angel are yet to open their account after their 8 match.

Guardian Angel coach Riston Rodrigues started with his two new foreign signing from Ghana. Mohammed Mahama (defense) and Frank Adusei (forward) and had better of the exchanges in the first session.

In the third minute of the match Angel’s Joywin Costa moved dangerously inside the penalty box but collided with onrushing Sporting keeper Ozen Silva who suffered minor injury.

Minutes later, a stinging 25-yard free kick by Frank Adusei was pairred for a corner by keeper Ozen Silva with a full stretched diving save.

Another deadly cross by Angel’s Fedrich Fernandes was timely headed out by Joel Colaco before Joywin could connect it home.

At the very start of the match, Flaming Oranje almost scored where Joyson Gauncar header off Nickson Castanha free-kick went just past the goal post

After much probing Sporting broke the deadlock in the 45th minute with Lloyd Cardozo scoring with a neat header 1-0.

Sporting doubled their lead in the 52nd minute when Joyson Gauncar tapped the ball into the goal after Llyod Cardozo had served him on the platter 2-0.

Angel’s should have reduced the margin in the 58th minute when Joel Barretto set up Frank Adusei just outside the 6-yard box whose reverse kick sailed over the cross bar.

At the other end, a stinging 25-yard free kick by Nickson Castanha rebounded off the horizontal bar.

Sporting’s Joyson Gauncar was once again at the right place at the right time to connect the ball into the nets after Angel’s keeper Oswin Rodrigues had blocked Rohan Rodrigues shot to make it 3-0.

Another curling shot from inside the penalty box by Angel’s Joel Barretto was pairred for a corner by Sporting’s substitute keeper Sanij Bugde.

Sporting’s Joyson Gauncar received the man of the match award from Pravin Dhabolkar-GFA’s Executive Committee member.
