Adarsh face Nerul in inaugural
CALANGUTE: Adarsh Yuvak Sangh will take on Nerul Sports Club in the inaugural match of Candolim Village Panchayat Cup football tournament organised by Candolim Sports Club on March 5 at Dr Gustavo Monteiro ground, Candolim, at 4.45 p.m.
Goa Velha Sports Club, Friends XI Vaddem, Youth Club of Colvale, Parish Youth of Vagator, Pilerne Sports Club, Milagres Sports Club – Mapusa, St Savio Sports Club – Calangute, Raia Sports Club, Sangolda Lightning, Football Club of Siolim, Saligao United, Arpora Sporting Club and hosts Candolim Sports Club will also vie for the top honours. The winners and runners-up will take home Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively.
London Trophy football at Goa Velha
PANJIM: The 7th London Trophy football organized by Goa Velha Sports Club will be organized from March 2 at Goa Velha ground, Goa Velha.
Nuvem SC, Ambelim SC, Wilred Leisure SC, Rossman Cruz Verna, St Anthony SC Colva, Sao Miguel Taleigao, St Cruz Cavelossim, St Savio SC Calangute, Navelim Villagers Union, St Mathews SC Azzossim, Cuncolim Union, Saligao United, Sai Avtaar Anjuna, Candolim SC, FC Siolim and hosts Goa Velha SC will vie for the top honours.
The final will be held on March 19 on the occasion of the feast of procession of saints.
Wushu championship at Peddem
PANJIM: The 7th West Zone Wushu Championship organized by Wushu Association of Goa under the guidance of Wushu Association of India will be held on March 2 and 3 at Peddem Indoor Complex, Peddem, Mapusa.
Around 300 participants from Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Goa will participate.

Underprivileged sports meet at Calangute
MAPUSA: The 1st inter-club Lions sports meet for underprivileged children organized by Lions Club of Calangute in collaboration with Lions Club of Assagao, Anjuna, Aldona, Arpora-Nagoa-Parra, Mapusa sub-urban and Mapusa will be held on March 3 at St Joseph’s Boys Home, Calangute, at 2.30 p.m.
Over 200 children from seven institutions such as St Joseph’s Boys Home, Calangute; Don Bosco, Calangute, Institute of Public Assistance-Provedoria; Vivian Niwas Social Center, Siolim; El-Shaddai, Assagao; Auxilium Convent, Aldona and Moving School, Arpora will participate.
Bosco George, ADC,Governor will be the chief guest Ana Maria D’Souza, VP Calangute will be the guest of honour.
4-a-side football at Ponda
PANJIM: The 4-a-side football tournament organized by St Ann’s Church Boys will be held on March 3 at St Ann’s church ground, Ponda.
The winners will receive Rs 6,000 while the runners-up will take home Rs 4,000. The first 16 teams will to report on the ground will be allowed to participate.
