PANJIM: SS Dempo College of Commerce and Economics, Altinho will host the 13th Dempo Charities Trust’s Educational Institutions joint sports meet on January 23, Santa Cruz ground.
The four educational institutes under the aegis of the trust, Voicuntrao Sinai Dempo Higher Secondary School of Commerce, Dempo Higher Secondary School of Science, Vasantrao Dempo Higher Secondary School of Arts and Science, Dhempe College of Arts & Science and SS Dempo College of Commerce & Economics will participate in the mega sports event which will see participation of over 200 enthusiastic students and faculty members.
Students will battle it out for the top spot in the competitive on-field athletics events. Athletics events for boys and girls of the higher secondary’s and of the colleges will include sprints in the 100 mt, 200 mt and 400 mt categories. Additional events such as shot put, discus throw and a 4×100 mt relay will take place.
Students will team up with faculty members for some of the competitive sports events. To encourage participation in sports while also making it entertaining, a few fun events and races will be held.
“It gives me great joy that our institution has the opportunity to host the 13th Joint Sports Meet of Dempo Charities Trust’s Educational Institutions. This event is a great opportunity for the students and faculty members to display their athletic skills and also display team work. The true spirit of sportsmanship will be displayed for all to see and I hope the students excel to the best of their abilities”, said Radhika Nayak, the Principal of SS Dempo College of Commerce & Economics.
The results of all the above competitions will determine which institution will win the overall championship.
The sports event coincides with the golden jubilee celebrations of SS Dempo College of Commerce & Economics.
