PANJIM: St Anthony SC, Marna-Siolim edged past United Club of Nerul 3-2 to enter the quarter-final of 42nd Bandodkar memorial football tournament organized by Baina Sports Club, at Tilak Maidan, Vasco, on Saturday.
After a barren 70 minute the winners were decided in the penalty shoot-out. Claudio Rordigues, Sangam Pednekar and Anthony D’Souza scored for St Anthony while for United Club of Nerul Anthony D Fernandes and Xavier Clemente were successful. The man-of-the-match went to goalkeeper Siddesh Morje of United Club of Nerul.
On Friday, Goa Velha Sports Club got the better of Saligao United 5-4 via the tie-breaker to storm into the quarter-final.
After a barren 70 minutes the tie-breaker was enforced in which Goa Velha scored through Ashel D’Souza, Joseph Rodrigues, Sairaj Chopdankar, Chatur Naik and Francisco Pires.
For Saligao United Paulo Joao, Amar Halankar, Sawananad Naik and Edwin Fernandes were successful. The man-of-the-match was awarded to Michael Dias of Saligao United.
