VARCA: St Anthony SC, Colva got the better of ICSC Paroda 5-4 via tie-breaker to enter the quarter-final of Varca Panchayat Cup, organised by Varca Sports Club, at Varca football ground, on Thursday.
Both the teams put up a better display and showed more urgency. There were no scores at the break.
Kieth Rodrigues powerful strike was well saved by Jackson Colaco of ICSC in the 7th minute.
Ten minutes later, Manish Oliveira shot was well saved by Joemiro Fernandes.
In the second half, Colva shot into the lead through spot kick. Anthony Dias made no mistake sending the goalkeeper on wrong side from the penalty spot in the 48th minute.
ICSC Paroda team pressurised Colva defence and managed to level the score through Manish Oliveira in the 55th minute.
The teams were tied 1-1 at the end of regulation time.
In the tie-breaker, Anthony Dias, Menino Hilario, Jerry Fernandes and Joseph Pereira scored for St Anthony SC Colva while Manish Oliveira, Kanchan Kiro and Jackson Colaco netted for ICSC Paroda. ICSC Paroda’a Manish Oliveira was adjudged the man of the match award.
