SINQUETIM-NAVELIM: St Anthony SC, Colva got the better of Cuncolim Union 4-2 via the tie-breaker to move into the final of the 38th Gold Silver trophy tournament, at Rosary ground, Navelim, on Wednesday.
The first 15 minutes saw both teams playing on equal footings with Cuncolim’s goal scoring machine Daulat Dessai missing two great chances to score in the third and sixth minutes.
Colva’s Maxon Fernandes missed a chance to score in the eighth minute.
Two minutes later, Cuncolim’s Krishna Shirodkar missed a chance to score by his powerful header hit Colva cross bar and rebound back to play.
Later, Colva’s Fanslam Correia took a curling free-kick which was about to dip but the Cuncolim keeper rose high and palmed away the ball to safety at 17th minute.
Cuncolim’s Daulat Dessai fired two long range shots in the 20th and 42nd minutes but flew over the Colva crossbar.
Colva’s Maxon Fernandes attempted two solo efforts with long range shots but failed to convert on both occasions in the 50th and 56th minutes.
In the tie-breaker, St Anthony SC Colva netted through Rony Fernandes, Maxon Fernandes, Manjoy Rocha and Kelburn Fernandes while Alister Fernandes and Melvin Fernandes scored for Cuncolim Union.
St Anthony SC Colva will now meet Raia SC in the final on October 6.
