BENAULIM: St Anthony SC, Colva got the better of St Anthony SC, Assolda by a solitary goal to move into the quarter-final of the 42nd Cana-Benaulim soccer organised by Cana-Benaulim Sporting Association, at Sao Joao Baptist ground, Dando-Benaulim, on Monday.
In the second minute, Assolda’s Cruz Gomes should have netted but Colva defender Maxon Fernandes thwarted the latter’s move.
Assolda’s Moses D’Sa should have netted the first goal of the match but shot wide in the 12th minute.
The match-winner was scored by Baptist Fernandes after he dribbled past a couple of Assolda defenders in the 21st minute.
St Anthony SC, Colva will now meet SAI Avtar Anjuna in the quarters on August 4.
