MAPUSA: St Anthony High School, Guirim and St Clara High School, Assonora won their respective matches to enter the semi-finals of under-17 boy’s inter-school Bardez Taluka football tournament organized by DSYA, at Tivim ground, on Monday.
In the first match, St Anthony High School, Guirim thumped St Xavier High School, Moira 3-1. St Anthony led 1-0 at half time.
St Anthony started in the right earnest with their midfield spraying intelligent passes to their strikers.
Soon,.the Guirim school took the lead through asCharnel Fernandes scored past the rival goalkeeper with a neat finish before half time.
Changing over, Charnel doubled the advantage while Sarvesh Mandrekar scored the third goal. Rupesh Ratil reduced the margin for the Moira school.
Then, St Clara rallied to edge past Holy Cross High School, Siolim 2-1.
Holy Cross led 1-0 at half time through a goal by Mayuresh Naik but Nehal Shinde changed the tides in the second session with a hard-working brace which won the match for St Clara.
