MAPUSA: St Anthony’s Sports Club Marna defeated United Club Nerul 5-3 via the tie-breaker to clinch the 7th Milagres Cup played at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Saturday.
Either of the teams started the match on an attacking note, however, the Nerul side surged ahead as Melvin Lobo headed in the first goal of the match in the 24th minute.
Post resumption, the Marna side came up with new ideas and found the equaliser through Siddhant Shirodkar in the 44th minute. At full time the scoreboard read 1-1.
In the resultant tie-breaker, St Anthony’s SC Marna scored through Sangam Pednekar, Claudio Rodrigues, Joel Fernandes and Sahil Pomburpekar while Rajat Chopdekar and Ryan Pereira netted for UC Nerul.
Chief guest Dyanand Narvekar gave away the prizes.
