St Joseph Educational Institute, Chandor, Our Lady Rosary High School, Fatorda, St Anthony’s High School, Majorda, Fr Agnel Multipurpose High School, Verna  and Loyola High School, Margao  stormed  into the quarter-finals of Salcete Taluka  Under- 14  inter-school football tournament organised by Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs at  Government ground, Raia on Tuesday.
St Joseph came from behind to defeat St Pius High School, Orlim 5-3 via the tie-breaker.  St Joseph were trailing 0-1 at half time. St Pius enjoyed a slight edge in the opening session and went into the lead through Megan Cardozo.
Crossing over, St Joseph went in search of equaliser and after a couple of misses, they  equalised through Myron Fernandes.
In the tie-breaker, Moses D’Sa, Levito Hilario, Myson Fernandes and Myron Fernandes were on target for the winners while Megan Cardozo and Nash Pereira converted for St Pius.
Rosary blanked Saviour of the World High School, Loutolim  2-0. There was no score at half time. Rosary put up a better display after the berak and their raids paid dividends when Desmond Soares beat the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot. Aldrick Araujo doubled the lead with a blistering volley.
Fr Agnel thrashed King’s School, Margao  3-0. The winner led 2-0 at half time. Mathew Colaco, Slefel Rodrigues and Ronaldo Fernandes were the goal getters.
Govt HS, Borda  registered a hard fought 1-0 win over  St Rock’s High School, Tolleacanto 1-0. Allison Rebello struck the lone goal.
Loyola demolished  St Xavier’s High School, Velim  9-0. St Xavier’s were leading 5-0 at the breather. Loyola dominated the proceedings. Dillanger Cardozo, Sneden Madeira  and Nigel Baretto were the stars for the winners scoring a brace each while Maxon Fernandes, Bevan Fernandes and Clive Andrade  scored one each.
