VILLA-MAREX-CHANDOR: St Rita, Maina ousted Mendes by a solitary goal to lift the 16th Seamen trophy organised by Villa Marex Boys of Chandor, at Villa Marex ground, Chandor, on Sunday.
In the 6th minute, Mendes through Menino should have netted but his shot hit the rival post.
St Rita, Maina scored the match winner through Niclau’s power-packed shot off Jaden’s connect in the 34 minute.
In the second half, Mendes tried their best to level to equalise but the goalkeeper of Maina stood like a rock.
The winners were awarded Rs 63,000 while the runners-up received Rs 47,000 plus trophies.
Clafasio Dias, MLA of Cuncolim was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to winners and runners up in the presence of Minakshi Gaunkar, Celina Furtado, Sarpanch of VP Chandor club officials and other dignitaries.
