PANJIM: A second half three goal blitz saw St Savio SC, Calangute demolish Saligao United, 3-0 to reach the finals of the 8th London Trophy, organised by Goa Velha SC played at Goa Velha, on Saturday.
St Savio, Calangute made their intentions clear as Pedro Gonsalves sprayed passes for both the flanks where Alber and Blake were threatening Saligao defenders Jayesh and Swanand. Colin found Alber on the left flank who cut in and sent a low pass to Blake whose tap-in went just wide of the Saligao post.
Joaquim Gonsalves ran into space to receive a Vichal pass but his shot on the run was deflected for an abortive corner by Swanand. A long lob from Francis sailed over St Savio defence and Michael found himself with only the keeper Pedro Cardozo to beat, but in his haste he miskicked the ball.
At half time there was no score.
In the second half, a long corner taken by Pedro Gonsalves found Charles leaping high to head the ball into the roof of the goal giving Soma no chance as St Savio went into the lead. St Savio were at it again with Blake working his way down the left, and sending a low cross which was met by a diving Charles whose header was easily collected by Soma.
Alber then consolidated the lead with a solo effort as he dribbled past the Saligao middle and placed the ball past a rooted Soma.
Swananand took a freekick from the edge of the St Savio box and Francis headed powerfully but Colin came out with a goal line save.
Alber made it 3-0, with Blake laying a beautiful pass for him to go through and score.
