St Xavier cagers win varsity title

PANJIM, SEPT 28 St. Xavier's College, Mapusa successfully defended the Goa University inter-college basketball championship in the women's category defeating Don Bosco College 15-4. Tejal Mahambre 6 points, Michelle Fernandes 5 and Alyxa D'Mello 4 were the scorers for Xavier's while Samantha D'Costa was the lone scorer for Don Bosco's.

St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa successfully defended the Goa University inter-college basketball championship in the women’s category defeating Don Bosco College 15-4.
Tejal Mahambre 6 points, Michelle Fernandes 5 and Alyxa D’Mello 4 were the scorers for Xavier’s while Samantha D’Costa was the lone scorer for Don Bosco’s.
Other results: PCCE beat Chowgule College 11-7. Raisa Prazeres 7, Ilona Rodrigues 2 and Akarsha Kadam 2 scored for PCCE. Kim Alemao 4, Nithya Rodrigues 2 and Kimberely Afonso 1 were the scorers for Chowgules.
Damodar College beat GEC 18-5. Damodar scored through Nelvie Mendes 14 and
Joshila Fernandes 4. Teja K 3 and Lee Ann 2 scored for GEC.
St. Xaviers trounced PCCE 37-6. St Xavier’s scored through Tricia Silveira 13, Tejal Mahambre 9, Fiona Soares 4 and Michelle Fernandes 4 while Raisa Prazeres with 6points was the lone scorer for PCCE.
Don Bosco’s beat Damodar 7-6. Zenifa 5 scored for Don Bosco while Nelvie Mendes 4 was the scorer for Damodar.
Albert Fernandes, Asst. Registrar (Finance) was the chief guest and gave away the trophies and medals.
In the meanwhile, Padre Conceissao College of Engineering, Verna and V. M.
Salgaocar College of Law, Mira Mar will clash in the finals of men’s inter-college basketball championship.
Results (quarters): PG students of Goa University beat St. Xavier’s 35-31. Johan Braganza 15, Amish Jain 14, Warren Menezes 4 scored for PG’s while Kirk Duarte 9, Creig Menezes 8 and Joyston Britto 6 scored for St. Xavier’s.
PCCE defeated Dempo 38-32. Ashish Bhupal 16, Patrick Silveira 8 and Ashish Pednekar 6 were the scorers for PCCE. Sidney Missier outclassed Dempo with 20 points followed by Abraham Menezes 10.
Results (semis): PCCE trounced PGs 51-26. Patrick Silveira with 20 points excelled for PCCE followed by Ashish Bhupal 10 and Shelton Messais 6. Johan Braganza 12, Amish Jain 4 and Warren Menezes 4 scored for PGs.
Salgaoncar beat Dhempe 16-12. Salgaocar scored through Kher Simoes 8, S. Santosh Rebello 3, Aldrin Rodrigues 4.
Earlier,  PCCE beat Chowgule 28-19. Patrick Silveira 11, Aditya Hosangadi 7 and Ashish Bhupal 4 were the scorers for PCCE. Joshua Coutinho 6, Denvir Rodrigues and Clifford Pereira 3 each scored for Chowgule.
St. Xavier beat GEC 38-13. Kirk Duart 14, Josten Britto 6 scored for Xavier while Linekar Raposo of GEC scored 6 points.
Dhempe defeated Damodar College 11-10. Ibrahim Mulla 5, Ross F 3 scored for Dhempe. Lester D’Sa 4 and Roger Fernandes 4 were the scorers for Damodar.
V M Salgaoncar beat Rosary 22-7. Peter Fernandes 7, Kher Simoes 4, Salvador Rebeoo 4, Aldum Rodrigues 4 scored for Salgaoncar while Rampalli Satish 3, Alister Fernandes 2 and Ian Coutinho 2 were the scorers for Rosatry.
