MAPUSA: St Xaviers High School, Moira defeated St Xaviers Higher Secondary School 1-0, to clinch the U-17 girls Subroto Mukherjee title, at the Taluka level, organized by DYSA, at Moira ground, Mapusa, on Tuesday.
St Xavier’s High School, Moira put up a stiff challenge to score a narrow solitary goal win over St Xavier’s Higher Seconday, Mapusa to claim the title.
Sushmita played a stellar role in Moira’s win, with her constant raids on the rival territory.
The India’s Junior International also went on to score the only goal of the match, to enable her side to lift the prestigious title.
St Xavier’s HSS put up a brave front and came with some good moves, however Moira’s stopper Riya Shetkar did remarkably well to keep their efforts at bay.
For the third place Holy Cross HS Bastora got the better of St Thereza HS Candolim, 3-1 via tiebreaker.
Both the teams fought with great spirit and defended their citadels well.
In the regular time both the sides were locked in a goalless draw.
