MARGAO: Sucaldem Youth Club booked a place in the semi-finals of Chinchinim Villagers Cup football tournament organized by Union of Chinchinim Villagers beating Our Lady of Fatima Sports Club ‘A’ 9-8 via a thrilling sudden-death at church ground, Chinchinim, Wednesday. The teams were locked goalless at the end of regulation period.
The teams displayed attacking brand of soccer and kept the crowds on their toes. Sucaldem created a flutter in the 10th minute as striker Allot Antao let go a rasping shot which missed the target narrowly.
At the other end, Fatima almost broke the deadlock but Mario Rebello snap shot was blocked by the rival goalkeeper.
Sucaldem had another chance but Wendley Saores’ smart header missed the mark narrowly off Allot Antao.
Allot Antao outwitted a couple of defenders but his rasping drive miss by a few inches.
Myron Fernandes of Fatima was declared Most Valuable Player.
