PANJIM: Goa’s Sumit Asnodkar (1999), playing black pieces got the better of Archie Bhupat Shanklesha (Mah) employing the petroff defence lasting 38 moves in All-India (below 2000) rating tournament for Sweta Sudesh Bandekar Rolling Trophy at Curchorem, Wednesday.

Ex-Goa under-7 champion, Jayesh Shettigar caused the biggest upset scalping Sadhu N Vishal (1737) of
Bhakti Naik created an upset of sorts drawing with highly rated Ajeesh Antony (1903) from Kerala. Third seed Halsagar Chincholimath (1979) from Karnataka beat unrated Ashar Grishma (Mah) while 4th and 5th seeds Tahmankar Viraj (1965) and Ashraf Subhani spanked Ashvek Asnodkar and Saiesh Audi respectively.
