PANJIM: Sun Moon and Stars, Chandor defeated Tuff Veterans 5-4 via the tie-breaker to book the final berth in the Vanxim Divar Veterans Cup 2015 played at Monfort ground, Corlim, on Saturday.
Tuff Veterans striker Lino Pereira gave the lead with a beautiful volley early in the first half from a defensive lapse from the opponents.
Sun Moon and Stars replied with an equalizer from Anthony Peixote with a strong header off a delightful cross from Egidio D’Costa from the right flank.
Nicholas Rebello defended extremely well to prevent the Tuff Veterans strikers from scoring.
For Tuff Veterans, Alex, Jerry and Bruno Coutinho controlled the midfield but we’re unlucky to find the back of the net. At half time the score was 1-1.
In the second half, the teams tried to gain a lead but the game ended in a draw.
In the resultant tie-breaker, Egidio D’Costa, Patricio Mascarenhas, Agnelo Dias, Nicholas Rebello and Tony Travaso were on target for Sun Moon and Stars while Lino Pereira’s shot was blocked by the goalkeeper.
Now Sun Moon and Stars will meet Viva North Veterans in the final slated on December 21, at Campal ground, Panjim.
