CALANGUTE: A young talent, 21 years old, from Gaura Vaddo, Calangute, Sayeel Laxman Lingudkar, a student of V.M. Salgaocar College of Law has excelled at the State and National levels contests winning medals in the individual sport of Power Lifting. However, the young youth from Calangute is lacked the support of the Government of Goa in spite of earning laurels for his State.
The Youth though being felicitated at Mumbai and Calangute by his community, hopes for due recognition by the Government of Goa and Ministry of Sports.
Coached and trained by Dayanand Harmalkar, Sayeel Lingudkar represented the State at two Nationals, one at Amravati and the second at Jharkhand wining Gold and Silver respectively in the 120 kg.
Sayeel will be representing Goa at the Nationals at Himachal Pradesh in January 2014. Besides the national medals he also won gold and silver medals in individual events organized by Goa Super Bodies Power Lifting Association.
He also ensured that Goa University won the Team Championships at College level. In spite of doing Goa proud with his fine achievements, Sayeel continues to lack support from Goa’s Ministry of Sports that will go a long way to achieve his penchant for more medals, before taking launching himself in the international platform.
“My son has been representing the State of Goa for two years now but surprisingly he is lacking in support from the Sports Ministry. Financial allowances is very much required for developing the career of the young and budding talents like my son and I hope the Government of Goa will help such budding talents.” said Laxman Lingudkar, father of Sayeel Lingudkar.
