AGENCIES, TRIVANDRUM: Goa’s Tanisha Crasto along with her partner Aditi Bhatt from Uttarakhand emerged runners up in Junior U-19 Women’s Doubles at the Yonex Sunrise All India Junior Ranking Badminton championship which concluded, at Trivandrum, Kerala, on Sunday.
Tanisha and Aditi who are the current National champions in Junior doubles category and were seeded second in this tournament defeated Simran Singhi / Ritika Thaker 21-17, 21-18 in the semi finals.
In the final against Treesa Jolly and Varshini V.S, they won the first set and looked all set to win after being match point up at 21-20 in the second before losing 21-14, 23-25, 12-25 in a closely contested match to the top seeds.
This was the second of the Selection tournaments for the Asian Junior Badminton championships which will be held later this year.
With her excellent performances in the two selection tournaments, Tanisha is likely to make it into the India squad for the prestigious Asian championship.
