The State women and men teams emerged first and second at senior inter-zonal tennis ball cricket championship respectively in Chennai respectively.
In the finals, Goa women defeated Jammu and Kashmir. Jammu scored 35 runs all out in 5.2 overs. Pooja took 2 wickets, Sharmila and Manisha took 3 wickets each.
In reply, Goa scored the required runs in 3.1 overs. Laxmi Naik (18) and Arti (10).
In the men finals, Goa lost to Tellangana, AP.
Goa, batting first, scored 54 runs in the allotted 8 overs. Atish Sawant (20), Gaurav Naik (14), Santosh Chavan (10) and Pramod Dhuri (10).
Tellangana accomplished the required runs in 7.4 overs.
For Goa, Sunay, Mahendra and Pushparaj took 2 wickets each.
The teams were accorded a warm welcome on their arrival at Vasco Railway Station by GTBCA officials, senior players and coaches.
V M Prabhudesai (Executive Director, SAG), Bruno Coutinho (joint director, coaching SAG), Mahesh Naik and Navin Acharya (assistant secretaries, SAG), Kanta Naik (president, GTBCA) and Roopesh Naik (secretary, GTBCA) were among those present.
Gaurav Naik and Laxmi Naik led the men and women teams respectively.
The teams were coached by Haresh Parsekar and Hemant Khot respectively.
