CHANDOR: Tilamola United scored a hard fought 2-1 victory over Guirdolim Club to advance to the semi-finals of the 14th All Goa Guirdolim Panchayat Cup, organised by Guirdolim Club and played at Chandor Church ground.
Tilamola went on the attack right from the word go and were rewarded in the 19th minute when Melvin Carvalho’s wayward cross was easily let in by Guirdolim keeper Glimson Fernandes.
A goal down Guirdolim brought in Christopher Cardozo who scored by coolly placing the ball over the advancing Tilamola keeper for the equaliser. Hardly had the cheers from the home crowd died down that in the 24th minute Pelly Menezes ground shot beat the Guirdolim keeper to put Tilamola once again in the lead. After the breather Guirdolim had many chances to equalise but poor finishing by their strikers let them down. The match thus ended 2-1 in favour of Tilamola.
