MARGAO: United Club, Benaulim played extravagantly to trounce Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club 3-0 to march into the quarter-finals of All-Goa 24th Super Soccer inter-village football tournament organized by United Boys of Dando-Colva at St John de Baptist ground, Benaulim, Monday. United Club led 2-0 at the breather.

United Club dominated the game right from the word go and did not allow their opponents to settle down. They struck rhythm and surged ahead in the second minute after striker Meliston D’Silva bulged the net off a well-measured pass from midfielder Steven Baptista.

Spurred by the success, United Club intensified their forays and kept their opponents on the back-foot as they doubled their lead in the 22nd minute after Rody Fernandes slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a deft placement off an intelligent pass from Meliston.

At the other hand, Sao Jose de Areal failed to function as a cohesive unit.

Crossing over, United Boys continued to hold sway over their opponents and Vincy Fernandes drove the last nail into the rival coffin in the 51st minute.
