UC Benaulim reach finals alvernaz and lalush trophy

Hosts United Club of Benaulim registered a 3-0 win over Dramapur Sports Club to enter the finals of 6th Benaulim Super Soccer inter-village football tournament for Alvernaz and Lalush Alemao memorial trophy organised by United Club of Benaulim at St John Baptist ground, Dando, Benaulim on Wednesday. There was no score at half time.
Dramapur maintained their rhythm with midfielder Domingos Rebello keeping the Benaulim defence on toes. Striker Ryan Fernandes waged a lone battle upfront as he was no getting enough support from his colleagues.
At the other end, Benaulim were a subdued lot as they failed to combine as a cohesive unit.
Crossing over, Benaulim had a lion share of exchanges and repeatedly raided the rival defence.
Benaulim opened their account soon after resumption off a free kick taken by Alfred Fernandes.
Spurred by the goal, Benaulim piled on the pressure and toyed with the defence. Carlos Fernandes doubled the lead following a set piece.
Rody Fernandes’ smart header late in the second half sealed the fate of Dramapur after he picked up a well measured chip from Polvin D’Silva.
