CUNCOLIM: A four-goal blaze from Alvito Miranda helped United Club of Palolem to thrash Navelim Villagers Union 6-1 and book their place in the quarter-finals of the Rising Cup inter-village football tournament organised by Rising Club of Sanvorcotta, at Cuncolim school ground, Cuncolim, on Tuesday.
It was in the second minute that Alvito Miranda opened the scoring when his header crashed into the nylons off a corner taken by Caitan Fernandes.
He doubled the lead in the 17th minute from a spot-kick.
Alvito completed his hat-trick in the 20th minute off a pass received from Rancher D’Souza.
With just few minutes left for the breather, Suraj Naik reduced the margin for Navelim Villagers Union off a free-kick.
United Club of Palolem dominated the second session and pumped in two more goals.
First, Alvito scored his fourth capitalizing on the cross received from Selachi Cardozo in the 40th minute as UC Palolem’s added their fifth while Austin Diniz completed the rout scoring the sixth goal.
