UC Telaulim, Sesa FA share spoils

Engelbert scores for North Goa side while Lionel nets to bring the Academy boys on level terms

FATORDA: United Club of Telaulim and Sesa Football Academy played out a 1-1 draw in the Goa Football Association’s Geno First Division League match, in association with Jhoncy Restaurant Benaulim and played at Artificial Turf, Fatorda, on Monday.
Either of the teams displayed a balanced game of football as they cancelled out each other’s move to keep the scores leveled.
UC Telaulim marshaled by Anil Shivolkar tried to surge ahead with Joel Dias trying to break the Sesa defence as he played the lone striker.
Sesa FA on the other hand led by Dhiraj Chouhan held the Telaulim side until the 44th minute.
UC Telaulim’s swift movement forums Engelbert Azaredo on the top of the box, the midfielder took the opportunity and sent in a powerful strike past the rival keeper to make it 1-0 in the 44th minute.
Post resumption, Sesa FA played as a better side and started attacking front the word go in order to draw level with their counterparts.
Sesa FA were awarded a free-kick outside the box in the 56th minute wherein Lionel D’Souza stepped up and sent in a curler to level terms for his side.
Later, Sesa FA completely dominated the game and tried to get the winner but missed a couple of chances.
A brilliant opportunity to find the winner for Sesa befell as Rohan took control of the ball on the left flank and crossed it to Vishnu who had to head the ball in the open nets, however the latter headed the ball away from the goal.
UC Telaulim coach took off Joel Dias and brought on Osbourne Fernandes in the defence. The latter almost scored the winner for the Telaulim side as he shot from the centre area but Sesa keeper kept the strike away as the teams shared spoils.
