SAO JOSE DE AREAL: Uguem Rising Club got the better of Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda 4-2 to enter the final of the 38th Areal Panchayat inter-village football tournament, organised by Sao Jose de Areal SC and played at Padribhat ground on Tuesday.
Uguem Rising Club’s Handlee Fernandes was in thick of action and scored a hat-trick in front of the 1200 spectators.
Don Bosco goal scoring machine Francis Andrade was guarded by Uguem’s defence throughout the match but ultimately scored a goal foxing the defence.
Don Bosco missed chances through Francis Andrade and Ashley Andrade in the 6th and 15th minutes respectively. Later Don Bosco opened the score line through Cliff Barretto placement shot in the 16th minute, but the joy was short-lived as Uguem equalised through Handlee Carvalho’s curler in the 34th minute.
Uguem Rising through Handlee made it 2-1 at the half-hour mark. Later in the second half, Uguem netted through Lawren Fernandes in the 54th minute.
Handlee Fernandes scored his hat-trick for Uguem in the 59th minute making it 4-1.
A tricky move by Francis Andrade of Don Bosco made it 2-4 in the 65th minute.
Uguem Rising Club will meet Cuncolim Union in the final on October 27.
