MAPUSA: United Club of Verna registered a fluent 3-1 win over Calangute Association SC to advance ahead in the Candolim Panchayat Cup, organised by Candolim SC held at Dr Gustavo Monteiro ground, Candolim, here, on Monday.
In the 10th minute of play, Calangute Association went ahead through Pedro Gonsalves of a mistake from Verna keeper, 1-0.
It did not take long for Verna to level terms when Neville Menezes connected the ball into the goal of a cross by Jesley Moniz, 1-1.
On crossing ends, in the 45th minute Aglon Abranches scored for Verna with a neat placement, to make it 2-1. Two minutes later Verna again scored through Jesloy moniz of a solo effort, 3-1.
Verna’s Sheldon Pereira received the man-of-the-match award.
