MAPUSA: Hosts Parish Youth Vagator Sports Club edged past Calangute Association 8-7 via the sudden-death to enter the semis-finals of 15th Parish Youth Vagator Cup football tournament at Vagator ground, Sunday.
Calangute took the lead in the first half through Joaquim Gonsalves while Vagator equalized in the second session through Drynan Pereira.
The teams tried hard to score in the final quarter but their strikers lacked sharpness.
Calangute’s Sherwin Lobo received a direct red card.
In the tie-breaker, Drynan Pereira, Shekar Kerkar, Abhijeet Salgaokar, Akshay Dhabolkar, Gautam Diukar, Kalpesh Gadekar and Lester Albuquerque scored in the sudden–death while Agnelo Fernandes, Joaquim Gonsalves, Francisco Fernandes, Rajkumar Naik, Aniket Mandrekar and Sameer Chodankar converted for Calangute Association.
Calangute’s Francisco Fernandes was adjudged man-of-the-match.
