MARGAO: Vailankanni Boys, Vidyanagar blanked Rebello Pandal, Maina 2-1 to move into the next round of 8-a-side all Goa football tournament organised by St Anthony Boys, Agalli, at multipurpose ground, Borda, on Saturday.
In the first half, Rebello Pandal were leading 1-0. Rebello Pandal dominated the proceeding with Alvito Colaco opening the scoring in the 16th minute with the help of Agnelo Colaco.
Vailankanni Boys made an effort to equalise but Simon Fernandes’ header was brilliantly saved by the rival goalkeeper. Serino Fernandes assisted.
Crossing over, Vailankanni Boys in the 39th minute tried to level terms but Serino’s floater was timely fisted away by Rebello Pandal goalkeeper for a corner kick. Remmy Colaco played an important role.
Thereafter, in the 41st minute, Vailankanni Boys equalised through Serino Fernandes’ ground shot off a cross by Peter Fernandes.
Vailankanni Boys doubled the lead in the 44th minute when Simon headed in after receiving a cross from Serino.
