NAGMODEM-NAVELIM: Varca Sports Club got the better of Snows Academy Raia 13-12 via the tie-breaker to move into the quarter-finals of the Navelim Villagers Union trophy, organised in memory of late Nelson and late Bazeliana Coelho, at Rosary ground, Navelim on Tuesday.
It was evenly contested battle as both the sides had their chances in the first half.
In the second minute, Raia’s upcoming striker Eldon Colaco should have scored but his long range shot was palmed away to safety by Varca’s keeper Muhammed Shaikh.
Two minutes later, Varca’s Dylan Lima tried his luck from a distance but his power-packed shot was brilliantly saved by Raia keeper Lio Colaco.
Finally, Varca SC took the lead in the 8th minute through Joylon Cardozo as they led 1-0 at the break.
Raia managed to equalise in the second half through Eldon Colaco. The teams were tied 1-1 at the break.
In the tie-breaker, Varca SC proved to be better shooters.
Varca SC will meet Dicarpale SC in the quarter-finals on November 4.
