PER-SERAULIM: Varca Veterans got the better of Royal Veterans Navelim 6-5 via the tie-breaker to move into the quarter-finals of the Colva Veterans football tournament, played at Mabai ground, Per-Seraulim, on Tuesday.
Succor Pereira of Royal Veterans Navelim netted the first goal of the match with a placement shot of Vicky Fernandes assist in the 18th minute.
Raju Cardozo of Varca long range effort missed Navelim nets in the 19th minute.
It was Succor Pereira again who scored the second for Navelim with a glancing header of Vicky Fernandes connect in the 21st minute.
Sukhdev Arwade of Navelim shot missed the target by whiskers in the 30th minute.
In the second half Varca Veterans came from behind to score two quick goals which came from the boots of Tony and Socorro in the 48th and 60th minutes respectively to level terms. The teams were tied 2-2 at the end of regulation time.
In the resultant tie-breaker Varca Veterans proved to be better shooters.
