RAIA: Vasco SC held Goa Police to a 1-1 draw in the Group B match of the Goa Police Cup, organized by Goa Police Sports Cell in association with Vasco Sports Club and GFA, at Duler stadium, on Friday.
Goa Police paired up well as Shaik Mouzzan Saliya and Sachin Chopedkar made upfront moves while Sujil NS and Jaison Vaz combined well for Vasco SC.
In the 3rd minute of play Abdul Kadar of Goa Police ran down the flank and passed the ball to Sachin Chopdekar who released a trigger shot however Keeper Shilton Fernandes of Vasco SC was equal to the task.
Later, Vasco SC Kingslee Fernandes’ carpet drive shot hit the woodwork and rebound back to play which rebound back as Sujil N.S who was lurking in the Goa Police box at once shot but to his dismay Punaji Kalangutkar, goalkeeper of Goa Police fisted the ball to a corner kick in the 9th minute.
Goa Police opened the scoring in the 28th minute as Sachin Chopdekar rolled the ball to Shaikh Mouzzan Saliya who made no mistake as he shot the ball home to give his team the desired lead.
There after Goa Police through Sachin Chopdekar attempted on target in the 36th minute which was however blocked by Nagesh of Vasco SC.
Change of ends saw Vasco SC, Coach Eban Mesquita subsituting Nazar P.A and getting in Safaz Shaji in the midfield during the 46th minute which changed the story of the match.
It was in the 49th minute that Kingslee Fernandes tried to threaten Goa Police with his aerobatic styled shot which ballooned over.
Dinesh Amonkar of Goa Police tried a solo effort with his long ranger but shot wide in the 50th minute.
It was in the 68th minute that Vasco SC equalized as Princenton Rebello took a corner kick which Sujil headed; the goalkeeper saved the ball however to his dismay the rebound came back to Sujil who shot from close range to make it 1-1 for Vasco SC.
