Verna march into final

PANJIM: Verna Sports Club got the better of Clube Sao Miguel de Taleigao 3-2, to enter the final of 9th London Trophy, all-Goa football tournament, organized by Goa Velha Sports Club, at Goa Velha ground, on Sunday.

After starting on the front foot, Taleigao took the lead as Vikram Balekar connected a fine pass from Anthony Pereira.
However, Razor equalized for Verna as keeper Presley allowed the ball to roll out of his hand for the striker to take advantage of the loose ball.
Soon, Anthony Pereira had an open goal at hid mercy but shot wide.
At the other end, Razor ran down the left flank and let fly with Presley punching the ball as it hit the post before going out for a flag-kick.
Just before the lemon break, Savio of Taleigao had an open goal but shot the ball through the legs of Beneston and it eventually went out of target.
Post resumption, Bazileo took a few Taleigao defenders in his stride and let fly his shot just skimming over the crossbar.
Stephen put Verna ahead with his adroit placement giving no chance to custodian Presley. Newton had a shy at the Verna goal which however flew over. The, Bazileo added one more for Verna as his shot hit the under side of the bar and crossed the goalline.
Cedric brought hope for Taleigao as his curling shot beat Beneston. 
In the dying minutes, Cedric had his volley coming back from the Verna post.
Subsequently, goalkeeper  Beneston came out with a stunning diving save to keep a Vardhan pile driver out as the Taleigao outfit were left frustrated.
