PANJIM: Verna Sports Club clinched the Cuncolim Municipal Council Cup by defeating Sporting Club of Davorlim 2-1, at Cuncolim ground, recently.
The winner took home Rs 40,000 while the runner-up had to be content with Rs 30,000.
South Goa District Collector, Venancio Furtado was the chief guest and distributed the prizes in the presence of Benaulim MLA Caitano Silva, Sanguem MLA Subhash Phal Dessai, Cuncolim MLA Rajan Naik, GFA President Elvis Gomes, parish priest of Our Lady of Health church, Cuncolim Fr Manuel Fernandes; CMC Chairperson Landry Mascarenhas, Vice Chairperson Premdeep Dessai and other CMC councillors.
