RAIA: Verna SC entered the semi-finals of 33rd All-Goa St Anne’s inter-village festival soccer in memory of Maria Anatansia Fernandes defeating Goan Warriors of Tivim 2-1 at Animal Husbandry ground, Curti-Ponda, Sunday. The teams were level 1-1 at half time.
In the 16th minute, Verna were awarded a penalty as Lenon Pereira’s try touched a rival defender’s hand. Andrew John converted it.

Another spot-kick followed in the 27th minute. Shane Themudo dodged past a defender and essayed goalwards where it touched a defender’s hand. Anil Desai levelled the score.
Verna increased the lead soon after the break, before the Tivim team could settle. Gama essayed it to Imamsab Guledanda who on seeing the goalkeeper out of position released a powerful shot which found the net.
Rajendra Shirodkar gave away the man-of-the-match award to Imamsab Guledanda of Verna.
Verna will take on Don Bosco Oratary, Fatorda, on July 19.
