PANJIM: Top seeded Vinod Kerkar overcame the obdurate Sarvesh Kolwalkar in the final to win the 2nd Phase Ranking snooker tournament at Crucible Mapusa, in affiliation with Billiards and Snooker Association of Goa (BSAG), recently.
It was another feather in the cap for Vinod Kerkar, a former State champion who has now won two State ranking tournaments on the trot.
The finalists were engaged in a marathon duel which had gone to the full distance of five frames in four and half hours. The match tilted Vinod’s way when Sarvesh missed pink, the match ball in the fourth frame. The tough fight came to and end when Vinod won the final frame handsomely.
Cash prizes and trophies were distributed in the presence of BSAG President, Sunil Morajkar; Treasurer, Sushant Pai Kane and executive committee member Kelly Fernandes.
