MARGAO: A fine brace by striker Sertorio Monteiro helped Wilred Leisure Sports Club, Curtorim to drub Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim 4-1 and cruise into the semi-finals of St Anthony’s UK Cup Super soccer tournament organized by St Anthony’s Sports Club, Colva at DSYA ground, Colva, Tuesday. Wilred Leisure led 3-1 at the breather.
Wilred Leisure dominated the game right from the start and kept their opponents on the backfoot for a major part of the opening session. Wilred Leisure took the lead in the very first minute when Velson Fernandes bulged the net from close range.
Spurred by the early success, Wilred Leisure raised the tempo and doubled the lead when Sertorio Monteiro slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot in the fourth minute.
Stung by the double blows, Cavelossim reduced the deficit in the 20th minute when Rolland Fernandes punished the rival goalkeeper with a deft placement.
Stunned by the goal, Wilred Leisure put the issue beyond doubt when Myron Fernandes beat the rival goalkeeper with a deft placement.
Post resumption, Sertorio drove the final nail into the rival coffin when he slotted past the rival goalkeeper.
