CM greets workers on May Day

Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar greeted the working community on the eve of May Day (Labour Day), describing them as prime movers of the country's growth.

PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar greeted the working community on the eve of May Day (Labour Day), describing them as prime movers of the country’s growth. 

He said Labour Day is observed the world over to commemorate the struggle of workers and the historic sacrifices of Chicago workers who laid down their lives for attaining their rights.

He said, “It is not only a day for looking back at the history of trade unionism and for looking forward to the future for more employment, but it is­ also a day to pledge to enhance the working practices”.

He said that workers are a precious asset of the country who keep the wheels of industries in motion. Extending his greetings, the Chief Minister exhorted them to extend their support to realise his goal of making Goa, number one state in every field.
