NAVELIM: YC Manora defeated St Sebastian Union Club 3-1 in the GFA Second Division match played at Rosary ground, Navelim, on Tuesday.
Manora had the first chance of the match in the fourth minute when Clifton Fernandes on collecting the ball from Shubert Colaco dribbled past couple of rival defender but Vallesly Afonso’s timely clearance helped St Sebastian to keep the scoreline intact.
St Sebastian midfielder Stevan Baptista connected the ball to Xavier Clement but the latter ballooned his shot over the Manora cross piece in the 12th minute.
Manora midfielder Jameson Noronha sent in a through ball to Bensaon Fernandes but the latter’s shot was easily saved by rival keeper Vehlear Rebello in the 13th minute.
Minutes later, Manora scored the first goal through Clifton Fernandes. Shubert Colaco played a long ball from left flank to Clifton, whose close range effort gave no chance for the rival keeper.
Benson Fernandes doubled the lead for Manora just before the break after collecting a diagonal pass from Derron Fernandes before unleashing a powerful strike to make it 2-0.
Osaben Fernandes scored for St Sebastian in the 58th minute.
In the 86th minute Clifton Fernandes scored his brace and Manora’s third.
At Ambelim ground, SWC, Zaino defeated Fr Agnel YC, Paroda 3-0.
Shevlon Cardozo opened the account for Zaino in the 5th minute. Within ten minutes, Desmond Fernandes doubled the account for Zaino and Tiburcio Fernandes made it 3-0 in the last quarter of the match.
At Curtorim ground, Raitura SC defeated Maina SC 3-2.
At Cuncolim ground, Cuncolim Union blanked Mandopa SC 3-0.
At Velsao ground, Cortalim Villagers blanked Parish Youth Association Consua 4-0.
