RAIA: Youth Club of Manora and Cuncolim Union played out a 1-1 draw in the GFA Second Division Inter-District play-off match played at Raia ground, on Tuesday
The first chance of the match fell to Manora’s Dadapeer Patel in the third minute but the latter shot was cleared off the line Cuncolim Union defender Krishna Shirodkar.
Cuncolim Union’s Necil Pinto was fed by midfielder Moises D’Sa in the 6th minute but the former’s close range effort was saved by Savior Paes, keeper of YC Manora.
Thereafter, Dadapeer Patel missed two great sitter for Manora in 12th and 14th minute. Cuncolim Union drew the first blood through Kishen Boxcar when he coolly placed the ball inside Manora nets in the minute 25th minute off Neil Pinto assists.
Samson Simoes’ strike from close range was pushed to safety by Manora keeper.
The Cuncolim defenders, Melvan Furtado and Krishna Shirodkar stood tall to deny the strikers of Manora to enter their territory.
Cuncolim’s Simson Simoes sent in a long ball to Necil Pinto inside Manora box but the latter’s shot hit the rival post and went out of play.
Manora were confined to midfield play as they failed to crack the opposition defence. Francisco Colaco of Manora shot but Moises D’Sa of Cuncolim saved on the goal line in the 70th minute.
Manora finally equalised in the 90th minute when substitute Swizel Pereira’s shot from the edge of the Cuncolim box gave no chance for the rival keeper.
Manora almost won the match but Ivon Costa’s header hit the rival post in the 90+2 minute.
Ivon Costa’s bicycle kick missed the Cuncolim nets in the last minute of the injurt time.
