MONTE-HILL-BENAULIM: Young Challengers got the better of Vaddi Boys 6-5 via the tie-breaker to enter semi-finals of the Inter Benaulim constituency 9-a-side football tournament organised by Pedda Benaulim, at St John the Baptist Church ground, Monte-Hill, Benaulim, on Wednesday.
Vaddi through Milagres Dias should have netted but his right footer missed the Challengers net by a whisker in the second minute.
Ten minutes later, Vaddi opened the score-line through Raymond Fernandes’ powerful downward header.
Later in the 49th minute, Challengers equalised through Declan Carvalho’s long range shot.
In the resultant tie-breaker, Young Challengers netted through Reggie, Joel, Declan, Shanshede and Ramiro while Milagres, Macenzie, Raymond and Linford scored for Vaddi Boys.
