YS Benaulim oust Dramapur

Young Strikers, Benaulim defeated Dramapur Sports Club 2-1 to cruise into the quarter-finals of 29th Gold Silver Rolling Trophy inter-village football tournament organised by Navelim Sporting Club at Rosary ground, Navelim on Tuesday. Young Strikers led 2-0 at the lemon break.
Young Strikers started the first half on a whirlwind fashion with their forwards and midfielders working in tandem to put the rival citadel under tremendous pressure. They were rewarded in the 15th minute when striker Charles Rodrigues beat the Dramapur keeper with a stiff shot after he picked up the ball from his own half and unleashed a shot which crashed into the net.
The early goal galvanised Young Strikers as they made a couple of forays into the rival territory and kept the rival defence on their toes.
Xamaro Rodrigues doubled the lead in the 28th minute with a booming shot. At the other end, Dramapur had an opportunity to reduce the margin but striker Ashvy Rebello was the culprit as he ballooned over from handshaking distance.
Dramapur came back strongly in the second half and piled on pressure on the rival citadel and found the net in the 55th minute when Piedade Rebello scored.
