MARGAO: Villagers of Sao Jose de Areal compelled the village panchayat to revoke the construction licence issued to a party who had apparently submitted fraudulent documents to obtain construction licence.
At a meeting convened on Tuesday, villagers established that the party had submitted fraudulent documents and demanded that the construction license be revoked immediately.
Sarpanch Perris D’Costa who insisted on taking legal advice said the license would be revoked on grounds that discrepancies were found in the description of the plot documents issued by the Town and Country Planning Department, Survey Department and Sub-Registrar’s office.
The issue was animatedly discussed at the gram sabha held on July 9, where villagers referred to the documents available with the panchayat to prove their point.
Referring to the site plan submitted by the party, they established that at the time of site inspection the panchayat officials were shown a different plot while the license was sought for another plot, as the plot inspected was in the middle of the property while the license was sought for a plot that was at the end of the property.
