A win-at-all-costs warrior on the pitch Liston Colaco, a student of Roasry Higher Secondary School, who hails from Davolim recently achieved the feat of being the top scorer in the Goa Professional League.
Liston has thirteen (13) goals to his name with Salgaocar FC in the recently concluded Professional League.
With his goal scoring instincts, the 18-year-old lad from Davorlim is a phenomenon in the forefront with his explosive and extraordinary skills honed in his earlier days with Salgaocar Juniors.
The youngster with his passion for the beautiful game has grown over the years and is training hard to make his way into Indian Super League and play for FC Goa.
In amidst the roller-coaster to achieving his dream, Liston is the preferred choice of the coaches who is making him the epitome of consistency for Salgaocar and hopefully for Goa in the upcoming Santosh trophy.
The lanky striker with his brilliance in the front is one of the U-20 players who have been shortlisted to sport the colours of Goa in Santosh Trophy final stage scheduled to be played in March in Goa.
When asked what he thinks about the Goan squad this year, he promptly replied, “We are a good squad and have been training tremendously well and performed flawlessly in the qualifiers. I think we have a good chance in the getting the trophy home.”
Talking about his memories delighted Liston said, “One of the best match in my entire career is the qualifying fixture against Daman and Diu wherein we won the match scoring thumping 8-0 and moreover I took the match ball home netting my first National hat-trick.”
Liston also earned laurels for his Higher Secondary school leading his team into the U-19 state level tournament and also made it big at the Reliance Youth Foundation Soccer tournament held recently in Mumbai.
The young boy is also part of the U-18 I-league team and has a total of six goals to his name.
Speaking about his inspiration and his goal he said, “I derive my inspiration from Neymar, just like him every time I get on the pitch, I want a game, I want to score and I want a bit of a fight.”
