MARGAO: Taking serious note of the illegalities, the Raia Village Panchayat issued a show cause notice to the owners of an illegal scrapyard located at Arlem.
Reacting on the issue, Godfrey Oswald Souza, deputy Sarpanch and ward member demanded immediate action against the scrapyard owner.

It is pertinent to note that the said scrapyard has been operating from here for a very long ime and citizens too were raising their voices against the same.
Speaking to O Heraldo, Souza said that they found salvageable waste being stored at the scrapyard, which is dangerous and harmful to local residents.
He also informed that this scrapyard has been operating from the site since 2000. After a complaint was filed by him with the panchayat, he along with the secretary carried out an inspection, followed by a show cause notice to the owner.
During the inspection, it was noticed that salvageable waste which is considered harmful to the humans was traced at the site.
