The government does not seem to have control over the price and quality of fish that is being sold in the market. While in some fish markets fish is sold in weights in the other cities fish is sold in shares. The size of each share is entirely dependent on the fish-vendor.
To alleviate the difficulties faced by the citizens the government had in the past announced that fish would be sold at a reduced price through it’s outlets. But it seemed that the scheme was kept in the cold storage. Now fish lovers in the state can heave a sigh of relief as the government has decided to introduce five mobile fish vans from March 2015 where fresh fish will be sold at a subsidized rate. If fish is sold at a subsidized rate by the government then it will have a direct impact on the price at which fish is sold in the market by the fish vendors.
These fish-vendors will sell fish at a reduced price as it will face competition for the very first time in a trade which they had monopolized over the years.
But the question is whether just five mobile vans will be sufficient for the entire state even if it is just a beginning. Where will these mobile fish vans be parked? Won’t this benefit just a handful of fish-lovers? The government should have commenced the scheme with a bang by introducing at least five mobile vans in North Goa and five vans in South Goa.

Modi sarkar yet to win our hearts
After the election of the BJP government many communally divisive activities by RSS affiliated groups have been at its peak. Now the issue of building a temple in the Nathuram Godse, the assassinator of Mahatma Gandhi, has been raised. One side we celebrate martyrs day on January 30 and on the other hand uplift the murderer of the same martyr to a gods status. Really incredible India!
Seems like “acche din aayege”, “sab ka vikas”, “swach bharat” and so on were mere words to win votes, what we got to see was the bogey of love jihad, ghar wapsi, Hindu rashtra etc.
Now that our PM is back from his foreign trips, solving these issues should have been his top priority. Fortunately for us that was done, when Barack Obama reminded us that to progress we need to be united and not be divided on religious lines. Modi definitely won few votes to be the PM but winning our hearts seems to be a far cry.

Metered taxis
So the rickshaw drivers at Belgaum are told to implement a meter system on as they have been ‘ fleecing’ the Goan visitors and taking advantage of language barriers. The question now that must be asked is if the rickshaws are to be metered then why not the taxi’s. They too have been fleecing the Goan visitors for years.

What stops India from progressing
India can progress as a nation if not divided by religion ” This statement by US President Barak Obama on 26 January in Delhi are words for India to ponder over.
If we analyse Indian history we find religious riots, discrimination and intolerance has resulted only in blood shed & unrest, increased hatred, brought total loss hindering the nation’s progress. And this hatred is still affecting the present generations too and India’s real progress & growth will be just a dream.
The slogan of “Ache Din” will just remain mere words if hatred continues to prosper under the very nose of our PM. Sadly the President of USA had to remind us to maintain unity in order to progress. We might have different faiths and beliefs, but that should not be the base to promote hatred and disturb the communal harmony.

Goa police-less state
It is shame for the police department, that despite having a huge number of police men in the state, Goa has become police less state to solve the number of robberies and murders that occurred from time to time.
The Police chief said that he will use the entire police force to solve the double murder of Vasco (Herald dated 31/1/2015) I want to ask the Police Chief, how many robbery or murder cases has his department solved upto this day? There is no safety for Goans under the present government.

What a shame
Our Goa which is said to be the ‘East of Rome’ has now become ‘Home of the migrants’ who have spoiled the image of Goa. How and Why? Because, they do worst and shameful things at every nook and corner of Goa, for example:
pee by the road side in full day light, sleep any where any how, chew pan and spray it everywhere, etc .What a sight for school going girls and ladies. Moreover, what impression will be the foreigners take back to their Country. Somebody must act now to stop this. For example, Traffic Police could fine and warn them with harsh punishment.
