MARGAO: Tired of stopping people from dumping heaps of garbage on the roadside near the Veterinary Hospital, the Raia panchayat has called upon the government to fix the problem once and for all.

She said “We have cleaned this roadside many times, but the garbage comes back in tonnes. We had caught some people dumping garbage here, but they are not afraid of the law at all”.
Curtorim ZP member Moreno Rebello said, “The Waste Management Minister should look into this problem at Raia. Garbage from all around the area is coming to Sonsoddo, which is partially in Raia. The garbage from Curtorim village is not accepted here. To add to their woes, the panchayats collect garbage, but don’t have disposal facilities. The government has to find a solution.”
