PANJIM, JULY 23 The Chief Minister Digambar Kamat on Friday informed the House that patrolling in Mapusa city will be increased in the night after 12 pm due to increase in the cases of robbery.

The Chief Minister Digambar Kamat on Friday informed the House that patrolling in Mapusa city will be increased in the night after 12 pm due to increase in the cases of robbery.
The Opposition had raised the issue during “Zero Hour” on Friday in view of the robbery in Laxminarayan temple on Thursday night wherein burglars stole cash, silver and gold ornaments worth Rs 5 lakhs.
Leader of the Opposition Manohar Parrikar along with Mapusa MLA Francis D’Souza asked what kind of patrolling is being carried out in the city as burglars even dare to break –in at places close to Mapusa police station. Laxminarayan temple is located within one kilometer from Mapusa Police Station, he said.
Robberies in Mapusa market is a regular feature and at least, one shop is looted once a week, he said expressing need for heightening patrolling in the city.
D’Souza suggested there has be special patrolling during Ganesh Chaturthi during which time most robberies take place when people go to their native places.
